Cliff Lee Proven Human; Weekly World News Issues Retraction

56 years ago the Indians lost the World Series to the New York Giants, Willie Mays, Dusty Rhodes & all that jive.  Tonight the G-Men celebrate their 1st world championship since that October 2nd, a day when gas cost 21 cents a gallon.  Many facts diverged from the speculation that led most pundits to pick the Rangers in 5 or 6 games.  I, myself, was heard to respond to questions of my guess with "I dunno, but it's tough to be beat Cliff Lee."  Not, apparently, for San Fran.  I'll give Cliff game 1, everyone has a bad day, but tonight, a night that could have made his legend, he gave up a 3-run bomb to Edgar Renteria.  A no doubter.  And while the inescapable image of this game will likely be Cody Ross jumping around like a small child as he scored ahead of Renteria, the message is one tried and true, that's why they play the game.  To the many that were ready to deify Cliff Lee, just watch the Giants celebrate and understand that there are, sad to say, no more Sandy Koufaxes.  This year belonged to a rookie catcher, a freak starter, a scrap heap line-up and the most vibrantly insane closer we shall ever see.  Congrats San Francisco, anyone is better than the Yankees.  Cheers.

The Next Big Thing

The naming of pre-season All-Americans began prior to the 1986-87 NCAA basketball season.  Never had a freshman been named to the team... until now.  Meet the first: North Carolina forward Harrison Barnes, 6'7", 215 lbs from Ames, Iowa.  I'll be watching.  Check him out below.

BCS Madness

According to ESPN, if the season ended today, #11 OSU would play #6 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, #9 Wisconsin would play #3 TCU in the Rose Bowl and #4 Boise State would not make it to a BCS game, but currently unranked Big East leader Pittsburgh would.  Why even compute the rankings?

Randy Moss Waived By Vikings

Here's the press conference that led to the move...

Wouldn't it be sweet if the Browns claimed him?
