R.I.P. Fred Heinlen (1915-2011)

I was never that much of an athlete, but I certainly loved the game.  Coach Heinlen lived, ate and breathed it.  I had the privileged of learning from the man in 3 different sports and without him I certainly would not know how to juggle.  To prove to a bunch of 14 yr-old boys that they could master any skill that they put their minds to, each of us had become proficient in the art in order to play on the freshman baseball team.  He also paid me one of the greatest compliments that a 6 foot nothin' white kid can get when he asked me, incredulous, "How did you learn to rebound like that?"

Cheers coach. I hope you're looking down fondly on all of us.
